PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Saturday afternoon, the Pace University Women's Basketball team fell to Southern New Hampshire University in a close match-up, 69-74. The Setters fall to 10-3 overall, and 4-3 in the Northeast 10.
It was an even first half as Pace trailed by one point to Southern New Hampshire, 30-29. Ending on a 12-6 run, the Setters entered the half with momentum over the Penmen.
In the second half, Southern New Hampshire pulled away 50-42, following a 13-5 run midway through the third quarter. Despite the impressive run, the Penmen only took a three-point lead into the final quarter after Pace made a late push.
Pace captured their first lead of the game 63-62 with four minutes remaining. However, a 12-6 run from Southern New Hampshire would solidify their ninth victory of the season 74-69. The Penmen knocked down 38.1% of their shots from downtown while Pace hit only 23.1%.
Southern New Hampshire's offense was highlighted by a career night from Adriana Timberlake who poured in 29 points on 9-18 field goals. She did most of her damage from the free throw line, hitting 8-of-12 shots.
Katumina Mansaray led the way for Pace with a season-high 19 points on 8-14 from the field. Behind her was Shanice Sinclair with 14 points and Arianna Stockinger who scored 12 on the night.
The Setters return to action Wednesday evening on the road against Assumption University.
