RINDGE, NH – It was a difficult night for the Pace University Basketball team, as their three-game win streak ended at the hands of Franklin Pierce University, 36-47. The Setters fall to 10-2 overall, and 4-2 within the Northeast 10.
Pace's first-half woes left them with a tough obstacle to overcome as they trailed 23-16 after two quarters. It was an uncharacteristic performance for the Setters as their 16 points marked a season-low in a half for the squad.
The third quarter ended up as the difference maker for the Falcons as they outscored Pace 18-6. Fueled by a 9-0 run early in the quarter, Franklin Pierce continued to build on their lead taking an 18-point advantage into the final quarter.
Pace found their momentum in the fourth quarter outscoring Franklin Pierce 15-8, but it came too late as the lead was insurmountable for the Blue and Gold. It came as close as eight points in the final minutes but a final push from the Falcons would polish off their 47-36 victory.
Although the game was close in other aspects it was Pace's shooting percentage that led to their downfall. On the night, the Setters knocked down only 28.8% of their field goals compared to Franklin Pierce's 42.0%.
Pace's offense was highlighted by 13 points from Tower Lorde hitting 5-8 shots from the floor. Arianna Stockinger produced a big night on the defensive end, recording three steals and three blocks.
The Setters return to Pleasantville on Saturday afternoon to duel Southern New Hampshire University in another in-conference match-up. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. from Goldstein Fitness Center.
