Manchester, NH – On the road against Saint Anselm College, the Pace University Men's Basketball team fell 69-75 moving to 11-5 overall, and 7-3 in the Northeast 10.
It was a night where Pace came just shy of victory as the Blue and Gold never let up despite being down as much as 14 points.
The Setters began the night on a 12-1 run taking a commanding lead against Saint Anselm on the road. However, the Hawks answered immediately stringing together an 18-4 run of their own bringing the score to 19-16 with Saint Anselm ahead by three. Entering halftime, Pace trailed by seven points, 34-41.
The Hawks kickstarted the second half with a 9-3 run as Pace's deficit lengthened to 13 points. Saint Anselm's three-point shooting made an immense impact as they managed to hit 44.0 percent compared to Pace's 36.8.
Halfway through the second half, a Tray Alexander steal and score trimmed the Hawks lead to six points, 51-57. Despite that, Saint Anselm responded with back-to-back makes from behind the arc to extend their lead back to double digits.
In the final minute, a three-pointer from Justin O'Neill reduced the Hawks' advantage to eight points, 60-68. Although Pace made a run at the conclusion of the game, Saint Anselm came away with the victory, 69-75.
The Hawks' offense was highlighted by Josh Morissette as he scored 23 points knocking down five of ten shots from three-point range. Pace was led by Alexander who supplied a season-best 23 points and three steals. The other two Setters in double-figures were Bryan Powell (11), and Sean Bresnan (10).
Saturday afternoon, the Setters continue their season against Bentley University back in front of their home crowd in Pleasantville, NY.
