Alexander Shines with 17 Assists as Setters March Past AIC

Alexander's 17 Assists are the most for any NCAA DII player this season

SPRINGFIELD, MA – Tray Alexander dished out 17 assists, the most by any player in NCAA Division II this season, to go along with 14 points served as the catalyst in the Setters 75-55 rout of American International College on Saturday afternoon.

Pace earns its fourth straight win while improving to an overall mark of 11-4 and 7-2 in conference play.

A 14-2 run in the back half of the opening half allowed the Blue and Gold to take a double-digit lead, with Alexander accounting for six of them on his own, including going 4-4 from the charity stripe, to take a 29-13 lead with just over seven minutes left in the opening 20 minutes.

Chaz Harvey beat the halftime buzzer to keep the momentum in favor of the Setters, sending Pace into the halftime locker room with a 38-25 advantage.

In the second half, the Setters came out firing and put the game well out of the range for the home team. While the lead dropped back down to single digits, it only lasted one possession, with Pace immediately getting the lead back up to double digits, and the Setters built the lead up to the eventual 20-point lead that held at the end.

At the halftime break, Alexander already posted an impressive nine helpers while scoring eight points. He finished with his third double-double with 14 points.

Jamaal Waters provided 13 points off the bench while going a perfect 6-6 from the field. Bryan Powell provided 14 points, eight rebounds, and five assists while Sean Bresnan contributed 11 on 3-4 shooting from downtown.

The Setters were incredibly efficient on the offensive end, shooting 58.2 percent from the field and 46.2 from beyond the arc.

Pace will look to keep the good times rolling next Tuesday with a trip to Manchester, NH to face off with Saint Anselm College.
