Box Score WEST CHESTER, PA. -- The Pace University volleyball team saw its seven-game win streak snapped at the hands of the Golden Rams of West Chester University in straight sets, 25-15, 25-22, 25-21.
The first set was all Golden Rams, with West Chester hopping out to an 11-4 lead early on in the set. Pace was able get within two points at 13-11 and 14-12 but after that, the Golden Rams took seven of the next eight points to secure a 21-13 lead and finished the job from there.
Set two was a competitive affair. While the Golden Rams created some space with a five-point run to make the score 12-8 and kept the Setters at bay for awhile, a
Yasmeen Muhammad kill jump started a six point run to get Pace within one, 20-19. the run was ended by a Zoe Haines kill. Pace was never able to get the lead away from West Chester and a Tori Wright kill ended the set in favor of the Golden Rams, 25-22.
Set three had a similar beginning to the set that preceded, but Pace managed to grab the lead. Behind kills from Muhammad and
Georgette Cosentino and an error by the Golden Rams, Pace snagged themselves an 8-6 lead. The lead help until the Golden Rams got over the hump and rattled off three points to take a slim 15-13 lead. Pace tied the match back up at 19-19 behind an error and a
Daniella Abbastante kill but another three points went the Golden Rams way and they closed out the match with a Wright kill.
Pace returns to action on Tuesday when Northeast 10 play opens with American International College coming to Pleasantville for a 7 p.m. contest.
