No. 10 Setters Drop Heartbreaker to Adelphi

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Even though the Pace University field hockey team endured a 3-7 dis-advantage to start overtime, the Setters ultimately fell in double overtime, 4-3 in Northeast 10 play at Peter X. Finnerty Field.

Pace falls to 4-3 and 1-1 in conference play and will continue NE10 play on the road on Saturday at Saint Anselm College.

Pace struck and it was none other than Krista Dietz, who buried her eighth goal of the season to take a 1-0 lead.

The Panthers tied things up at 1-1 prior to the end of the first 15 minutes. Amanda Lee took the ball from midfield all the way to the cage and got one past Celeste Pagliaroli with under two minutes remaining.

The Panthers gained the lead in the second quarter, Ali Nagy took the corner and found Elisabeth Seyfarth for a goal, and a 2-1 lead at the break.

Pace's offense was not finished. Five minutes into the third quarter, Francesca Fava found herself in the right spot in front of the cage as Miranda Moshang sent the ball In and Fava was able to get it in the back of the cage to tie the game up at 2-2. The goal is Fava's first goal of the season.

Less than one minute later, Noëlle Meij gave the Setters the lead with her fourth goal of the season.

Much like the four prior games, overtime would end up being forced as the Panthers scored once more with less than five minutes later.

Pace managed to fend off a relentless Adelphi offense in the first overtime as they worked to kill a trio of penalties and forced a second overtime period. The Panthers did get the holden goal four minutes into the second overtime as Francesca Manzella scored in a breakaway.
