MANCHESTER, NH – The No. 10 Pace University field hockey team faced off with the No. 4 Saint Anselm College Hawks Saturday morning, falling 4-2.
Pace falls to an even record of 4-4 and will now turn its focus to another road contest, which will take the Setters to Sparkill, N.Y. to face off with Saint Thomas Aquinas College for the second time this season.
It took until the third quarter for either team to get one past their respective goalie, with the Hawks striking first. Abbey Bevens scored off a penalty corner less with than five minutes left in the third quarter.
With five second left in the quarter, the Hawks got one more past the Setters to take a 2-0 lead into the final 15 minutes of play.
A minute and a half into the final quarter,
Miranda Moshang draw a penalty stroke and converted for the freshman's first collegiate goal, and brought the Setters within one, 2-1. Shortly after, the lead returned to two for the Hawks following another goal.
Noëlle Meij responded with a goal less than one minute later but like the prior goal, the Hawks responded with a goal of their own to keep the Setters at bay.
