SPARKILL, N.Y. -- Three different Setters recorded double-digit kills in a 3-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas Saturday afternoon.
Pace (1-1), returns to the court this coming Thursday for the team's home opener against Felician at 7 p.m.
STAC was able to grab an early learn in set one, but Pace took five consecutive points to create some space, making the score 10-5. In that span,Â
STAC hung around for the first set, but a variety of runs, including four unanswered points to make the score 21-13 sealed the first set in favor of the Setters, 25-15.
Set two, Pace got more comfortable took a little more control of the match, hoping out to a 12-5 lead in set two whileÂ

Karielys Melendez each contributed three kills in this span. The Spartans responded strong, stringing together a solid run to get the Setters lead down to 3, 13-10. Pace got kills from Melendez and
Brielle Jones (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens), who also added two service aces, to make the score 19-10. From there, the Setters kept the pressure on and closed out the set, 25-13.
Set three was all Pace with the Setters charging out to an 11-3 lead early on and earning a lead as large as 13 when the set score was 20-7. While STAC was able to put together five straight points, it would not be enough to stop Pace who took the set 25-15.
Jones finished with 11 kills while Muhammad and
Madisen Lupica each registered 10 kills.Â
Georgette Cosentino finished with 24 assists on the afternoon.
