PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. The Pace University football team took on the Franklin Pierce University Ravens Saturday afternoon at Northwell Stadium for the teams Northeast-10 opener, falling by a final score of 41-2.
Franklin Pierce deferred the coin toss at the start of the game, giving the Setters first possession of the ball where Setters showed off an impressive first set of drives with pass play completions early in the game, with a total of 12 receptions. A return touchdown was completed by Tyvarius Daniels from the Ravens, giving FPU the game lead at the end of the quarter. The first quarter concluded with Franklin Pierce leading with 7-2.
Pace's defense proved to be strong this game with
Jalen Johnson breaking up two passes from FPU and an interception in the red zone.
Joshua Tachie-Mensah led the scoreboard in tackles, completing six solo tackles by the end of the game.
Setters' Quarterback Aiden Kennedy made a series of successful passes to
Lamar Moore, giving Pace the advantage downfield. Kennedy accumulated a total of 99 pass yards in the game Pace made a big play with a 33 yard return by
Brandon Sobotker, pushing the Setters further into Ravens territory, however no touchdown was made.
Nasir Robinson picked up a total of 67 yards during the game.
The Ravens made some big plays in the second quarter with a 35 yard run and a blocked punt return, giving Franklin Pierce a new lead of 20-2 by the end of the second quarter.
After the half, Setter's defense remained consistent, but the Ravens offense powered through, pushing their lead to 34-2 by the end of the third quarter.
Pace takes on American International College next week Saturday at 4 p.m in Springfield, Ma.
