PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University women's lacrosse team had a pair of players earn NE10 weekly awards, as junior midfielder Angelina Porcello (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) and senior attack Jolie Urraro (Sayville, N.Y./Connetquot) came away with the honors. Porcello earned the NE10 Player of the Week award, while Urraro took home Defensive Player of the Week in the conference.
Porcello has been a force on the offensive end, scoring five goals on seven shots, and adding an assist in one game played. The junior scored the game-winning goal in this week's contest, and added four ground balls, one caused turnover and eight draw controls.
Urraro was huge for Pace on both ends of the field as well. She had seven ground balls and three caused turnovers, while also adding four goals and two assists on the week.
The Setters used those massive performances to knock off the No. 1 ranked team in the country, as Pace earned a convincing 16-6 victory over top-ranked East Stroudsburg University on Saturday, March 4. The victory has moved women's lacrosse up to No. 6 in the IWLCA and USA Lacrosse rankings.
The Setters are back in action Sunday, March 12, when they head down south to take on No.2 ranked Florida Southern College at 1 p.m.
