Pace Softball Falls Twice at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Following their season-opening sweep yesterday, the Pace University softball team (2-2) dropped a pair of contests to Shippensburg on Sunday. The Setters were defeated by scores of 1-0 and 6-1 in the afternoon doubleheader.

Sophomore Gisselle Garcia (Lemon Grove, Calif./Mater Dei Catholic) pitched extremely well despite the loss in the opener. After allowing one run on two hits in the first inning, Garcia tossed five no-hit frames to end the game. She also finished the afternoon with seven strikeouts.

Pace's offense was led by freshman Haley Rusbuldt (Lakewood, Wash./Lakes), who went 2-for-6 across the two games.

Sophomore Brianna Shea (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino) knocked in Pace's only run of the day courtesy of a solo home run in the fifth inning of the finale. The California native also recorded a walk in both contests.
