Box Score PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 3 ranked Pace University women's lacrosse team picked up another win against a top opponent, defeating NE10 opponent and No. 5 ranked Le Moyne College 16-5. The win was Pace's first over Le Moyne in program history, as the Setters won their home opener Saturday, March 25 at Pace Stadium.
The Setters (6-1, 3-0 NE10) jumped on the Dolphins (5-2, 1-1 NE10) early, putting up six goals in the first quarter. After the first six minutes went scoreless, senior attack
Jolie Urraro (Sayville, N.Y./Connetquot) and grad student midfielder
Aleya Corretjer (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) scored 39 seconds apart to put Pace ahead 2-0. After a goal by Le Moyne, the Setters scored four goals in 3:57 to take a 6-1 lead. Corretjer scored two more for the home team, while sophomore attack
Nikki Mottes (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) and junior midfielder
Angelina Porcello (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) each added one.
On a free-position attempt early in the second quarter, Corretjer scored once again, making it 7-1 and scoring the 100
th goal of her career. Grad student midfielder
Emma Rafferty (Bay Shore, N.Y./Islip) then got in on the scoring, putting in back-to-back goals and extending the lead to eight. The Dolphins scored once more, but Rafferty and Porcello each added one before the end of the quarter, giving Pace an 11-2 lead at the break.
The Setters didn't let up in the third, outscoring Le Moyne 4-1 in the period with four different players getting on the board. Urraro and Corretjer added to their totals, while freshman defender
Katie Long (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and grad student midfielder
Kayla Conway (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) scored their first of the day to extend the Setter lead to 15-3 heading to the fourth.
The Dolphins scored a pair of goals in the fourth, and in the final minute, junior
Margaret Flocco (Patterson, N.Y./Carmel) scored her first goal of the season as the Setters came away with a dominant 16-5 victory over the No. 5 ranked team in the country.
On the day, Correjter led Pace with five goals and four assists, while Rafferty scored three times and added one helper. In addition to her goal, Conway led Setters with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Senior defender
Delilah Doyle (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon Senior) and junior defender
Alexandra Quinn (Eastport, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) had three caused turnovers as well, and Porcello led Pace with five draw controls.
