Pace Pride Hoops Night Returns Feb. 15

A tradition since 2016, the Pace University Department of Athletics and Recreation will hold its annual Pride Hoops Night against Adelphi on Wednesday.

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University Department of Athletics and Recreation in partnership with the Pace University Offices of Gender and Sexuality and LGBTQA+ will host Pace Pride Hoops Night on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The event, a tradition since 2016, will be held during an NE10 basketball doubleheader featuring the Pace women's team against Adelphi at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.

The event celebrates the Pace Community's inclusiveness and diversity.

The first 350 fans in attendance will receive a free Pace Pride t-shirt, featuring the Progress "P" logo. The shirts are sponsored by Coca Cola.*

Halftime of each game will feature drag performances by Miz Jade. Additionally, halftime of the women's game will feature a free throw contest between Pace University President Marvin Krislov and Pace head football coach Andy Rondeau. The contest is not only for bragging rights but, for every free throw made Pace Director of Athletics Mark Brown will be donating to the Pace Cares Fund, which provides emergency financial relief to students who face unforeseeable economic hardships. These needs range from housing, to travel, and to technology access to health and wellness.

For up to 299 students in the "Dawg Pound" student section, Brown will donate $50 per basket made to the Pace Cares Fund. 300 or more students in attendance will result in $100 per basket donated. President Krislov will match and double the donation.

In addition to the action on the court, numerous community groups from around Westchester County and campus will be co-sponsoring the event by tabling, including:

  • Pace University LGBTQA+ Center
  • Planned Parenthood
  • Westchester Medical Center Health Ally Care Center
  • Pace University Counseling Center
  • Pace University Women's Justice Center
  • Putnam Northern Westchester Women's Research Center

  • Hillels of Westchester
  • The Loft Community Center

The Pace University Bookstore will also be at the game selling Pace gear for those in attendance.

*Tshirts will be distributed after the free throw contest so there is a proper count of students at the game.
