Orangeburg, N.Y. -- Behind Arianna Stockinger's 16 points, the Pace University Women's Basketball team returned to the win column in a non-conference match-up against Dominican University, 66-60.
With the victory, Pace improves to 8-1 overall and stays 4-1 in the conference, remaining on top of the Northeast 10 standings.
The first quarter illustrated a defensive battle between Pace and Dominican. Stockinger was on a mission to score early tallying nine points and three rebounds, leading Pace to a 13-8 lead.
In the second, Pace gained the early momentum with back-to-back makes from Ciara Collins taking a ten-point advantage 18-8. The Setters would lead by as much as 12 points in the quarter but a late push from the Chargers made it a five-point affair heading into the half, 26-21.
A tight-knit second half saw the Dominican team diminish the Pace lead to just two points halfway through the third quarter. The Setters answered the call to each of the Charger's runs, never letting their lead be overtaken.
Halfway into the final quarter, the game would even up at 45 a piece after a layup from Dominican. At the other end of the floor, Stockinger would take the momentum back with a long three-point jumper to take a 48-45 lead.
Pace would hold the lead for the rest of the quarter to solidify their eighth win of the season. After a high-scoring fourth, Pace took the road victory 66-60 after solid play on the defensive end down the final stretch.
Pace knocked down 33.3% of their shots from three-point range compared to Dominican's 16.7%. Rebounding helped control the game for the Setters as they grabbed 46 boards, ten more than the Chargers.
Stockinger captured the spotlight for the Setters posting 16 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. MacKenzie Martin added 13 points and a season-best eight rebounds. Sophomore Ciara Collins also posted 13 points for the Setters.
