Rutherford, N.J. -- Friday night, Katumina Mansaray's 15-point effort helped lift the Pace University Women's Basketball team past Felician University, 56-44. The Setters continued their strong season on the road and improved to 9-1 overall, and 4-1 in the Northeast 10.
After a slow start, The Pace offense ignited in the second quarter with an 11-2 run, taking a 27-17 lead into the half. Ciara Collins led the way early with eight points off the bench in the first half.
Coming out of halftime, the Setters struggled from the floor while the Golden Falcons found momentum. Felician ended the third quarter on a 12-1 run to take the lead into the fourth, 36-35.
Similar to past match-ups, Pace continues to answer the call late in games with both their offense and defense. In the fourth quarter, the Setters took back control after back-to-back three-point makes from Morgan Ryan gave them a 41-36 advantage.
Pace's defense made it difficult for the Golden Falcons, forcing eight turnovers in the fourth quarter. Another bucket from Ryan gave Pace a ten-point lead, one they did not relinquish the rest of the way. The Blue and Gold would close out the final minutes with a 10-6 run, to capture their ninth win of the year.
Mansaray finished as the top scorer for Pace with 15 points while Ryan supplied 13, knocking down 3-of-6 from behind the arc. The three-point battle ended up being the difference in the game, with Pace hitting eight compared to Felician's one.
Before heading into the New Year, the Setters will host the College of Staten Island on December 30th at the Goldstein Fitness Center.
