BRIDGEPORT, CT – It came down to the final seconds in Bridgeport on Wednesday night but a pair of free throws in favor of the Purple Knights would be the difference as the Pace University men's basketball fell 62-61.
Pace's record drops to 7-3 and will welcome No. 19 St. Thomas Aquinas College to Goldstein Fitness Center this coming Saturday with tipoff at 1:30 p.m.
It was back and forth game that came down to the final 60 seconds.
Marc Dadika finished through hard contact to give Pace a 61-57 lead. On the next trip down, Bridgeport's Jayden Iturmendi drilled a triple in front of his own bench to come within one point.
With a chance to force the home team intro a triple to tie the game, the Setters worked the ball inside to Dadika, but was called for a travel after a double team came over to give the Purple Knights a chance at the win. After a pair of time outs, Joshua Denis drove to the hoop and drew contact to get to the line, and hit both free throws to steal a win.
Dadika finished with a season-high 17 points and seven rebounds.
Bryan Powell added 13 points of his own.
