PLEASANTVILLE N.Y. -- The Pace University women's basketball team fended off the College of Saint Rose 63-56, Wednesday night at the Goldstein Fitness Center.
The Setter's earned their first win within the Northeast 10 conference and improve to 3-0 overall, 1-0 in NE10.
After a low scoring first-half, Pace rattled off a 14-2 run behind back-to-back three-pointers from Shanice Sinclair and MacKenzie Martin. The Setters would head into the final quarter with a 15-point advantage, 48-33, over the Golden Knights.
Saint Rose had an offensive surge in the final quarter putting the late pressure on Pace. Led by a 10-2 push in the final minutes, the Golden Knights brought the score to within three with one minute remaining.
With 42 seconds left, Arianna Stockinger would sneak through the defense for a layup to give Pace a five-point lead. Saint Rose would be forced to foul Pace in the last seconds, securing the Setters third win of the season 63-56.
Sinclair displayed her all-around talent producing eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, and a steal. Pace spread out the scoring with Ciara Collins (11), Tower Lorde (10), and Sinclair's eight supplying the most points on the night.
Pace's bench would outscore Saint Rose's 26-4 led by a solid performance from Victoria Dieguez scoring a career-high eight points in just 13 minutes.
Next Tuesday, the Setters will look to improve to 4-0 in a road game against the University of New Haven.
