Football Grounds Eagles with Strong Run Game

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On a rainy day at Northwell Stadium, the run game delivered 374 rushing yards to lead the Pace University football team to a 38-7 win over the Post Eagles Saturday afternoon.

Pace improves to 2-4 on the year and will travel to Waltham, Ma for its next game against Bentley University next Saturday.

Up 3-0, Pace regained the ball with 8:16 left in the first quarter and pounded the ball. The drive started with a 14-yard rush by Brandon Sobotker. Later in the drive, Pace faked a punt and Joshua Tachoe-Mensah took the direct snap 29 yards to the Post 31 to set up the Setters to break into the endzone. Sobotker brought the offensive the final 31 yards for a touchdown. Following the PAT, Pace owned a 10-0 lead.

On the team's first drive of the second quarter, the drive opened with Nasir Robinson bursting through a gap up the middle for a 65-yard gain to get Pace into the redzone. Zyaire Goffney-Fleming took it the final 20-yards to grow the lead to 16-0.

Later in the quarter, Cade Saunders intercepted a pass on the Post 45 and took it back 17 yards to set the offense up on the Post 28. The offensive made the most of the field position the defense gave them, taking it the rest of the way on the ground with Robinson finishing the job, growing the lead to 23-0.

The second half saw the Setters continue to shine, this time of the defensive end. After forcing the Eagles into an opening three-and-out, a bad snap on the punt lead to the Setters starting the drive on the Post five. Sobotker took it five yards on the first play and increase the lead to 29-0. Pace kept their foot on the gas the rest of the way.

When the dust settled, Robinson finished with a career-high 176 yards on the ground and one touchdown. Goffney-Flemming had 74 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Sobotker had 56 and two touchdowns.

Anthony Holmes found himself all over the field on defense, racking up 10 tackles, five solo and five assists. Jaden Farrow finished with seven of his own.
