WALTHAM, MASS – The Pace University Football team suffered a conference setback on the road at the hands of the Bentley Falcons, 27-9.
The first quarter was proved to be too tough for the Setters to overcome. Bentley scored first after forcing the Setters into a punt to take a 7-0 lead. The Setters did look poised to respond, making steady progress down the field and drawing a roughing the passer call to get deep in Bentley territory but would make a costly mistake. Under pressure, Aiden Kennedy threw the ball away but it would be picked off by the Falcons who would end up taking the ball 73 yards for a pick-six and take a 14-0 lead. By the time the teams broke for halftime, Bentley had a 27-0 lead.
The Setters defense settled in and kept the Falcons off the board the rest of the way, Pace could not muster enough offense to dig out of the hole. They did get on the board courtesy of a safety, which was secured by
Anthony Robinson in the third quarter. Also in the third quarter,
Nasir Robinson broke free for a 36-yard touchdown run.
Robinson posted another strong performance, finishing with a new career-high on the ground, finishing with 181 yards on the ground, bringing his total on the year to 582.
Pace returns to action next week for homecoming with Southern Connecticut State University coming to Northwell Stadium this coming Saturday, Oct. 21.
