PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University volleyball suffered a 3-0 setback at home on Senior Day against Saint Michael's College at Goldstein Fitness Center on Saturday.
Pace falls to 12-7 on the year and a mark of 3-5 in Northeast 10 play. Pace returns to action this coming Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at Southern New Hampshire University.
Set one had the Purple Knights establish an early lead, 11-4. Faced with that hole, Pace got to work and got five straight back thanks to a pair of kills from
Jaiden Binning and one from
Karielys Melendez. Binning provided a pair of services aces to tie the set at 12-12. Later on, the Setters gained the lead off a four-point run, where
Cydney Gardner provided the go-ahead kill, 17-16. The Purple Knights rattled off four points later on to take a 21-18 lead and would close the set 25-23.
Set two, it took until midway through the set for either team to gain a lead larger than two points, with Pace got a kill and service ace Melendez and another Binning kill to take a 16-12 lead. Pace, up 18-15, lost the lead to four straight points to the Purple Knights and kept a momentum for a 25-21 set win.
Pace looked poised to take set three, owning a lead as large as 18-12, but the Purple Knights fought them off multiple times and took the final set 25-23.
