PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University Field Hockey team honored their seniors in style, earning a commanding 6-0 win on Senior Day over the American International College Saturday afternoon.
Pace improves to 11-5 overall and 8-3 in conference play while extending its win streak to six games.
It took some time for the Setters to get on the board in the first quarter, but eventually
Julia Eshleman drew a penalty stroke with less than two minutes left in the quarter and put it past the Yellow Jackets goalie to take a 1-0 lead.
Pace put two more on the board in the second quarter, both courtesy of
Noëlle Meij. Her first goal came off an assist from
Krista Dietz and her other was a rocket that was ripped by the goalie off a pass from
Kyleigh Kearney to make the score 3-0 headed into halftime.
Dietz found the back of the cage in the third quarter off a pass from
Tavia Flecksteiner and then did it all herself a couple minutes later. The final goal came as Eshleman fired a shot that took an odd bounce, but a favorable one, and landed in the back of the cage for the senior's second goal of the game.
Pace dominated all elements of the game, holding the Yellow Jackets to just three shots on goal.
