PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University women's soccer team suffered a tough conference loss at Northwell Stadium at the hands of Bentley University, 2-1, Wednesday night.
Pace falls to 7-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play and returns to action over the weekend with a trip to Worcester for a meeting with Assumption University.
The Setters did manage to get on the board first, after a corner kick from the far side was sent into the box,
Andrea Flores came up with it and put the ball in the back of the net for her fifth goal of the 2023 season.
The Falcons got the equalizer they needed before the half ended. The keeper, Claire Ewan, punted the ball downfield and Sydney O'Connor took the ball from midfield and first a shot just past a diving
Anna Fiore to make the halftime score 1-1.
In the 74
th minute, O'Connor struck again for the Falcons ripping another perfectly placed shot into the back of the net for what would become the eventual game winner.
Pace did come close to finding the goal they needed, including
Ava Viebrock hitting the crossbar in the 82
nd minute and
Allison Carr placing a shot just above the net in the final minute of the match.
Pace did outshoot Bentley, 18-6 and 7-2 on target.
