Setters Clip Ravens Wings on the Road

RINDGE, NH – The Pace University soccer team earned a key Northeast 10 win with a 3-0 win over Franklin Pierce University on the Road saturday night.

Pace improves to 7-4-1 overall and 3-3-1 in NE10 play. The Setters return to action at Northwell Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 18 when Bentley University comes to Pleasantville for a 7 p.m. match.

The Setters struck first. Alyssa Cabral secured the ball around midfield and passed it across the pitch to Jillian Joe who moved towards the box but could not get deep into the box. She passed it off to Andrea Flores who fired a shot from just outside the box to the far side to beat the diving Ravens keeper to take a 1-0 lead.

Less than two minutes into the second half, the Setters struck again. Allison Carr stole the ball from a Raven on the Ravens side of the field and dumped it off to Ava Viebrock who put the ball in the back of the net, past the charging Ravens keeper, to take a 2-0 lead.

Viebrock was not done making her presence felt. An errant goal kick ended up going right to her with no one between her and the Ravens keeper. Charging the box, she forced the keeper out and passed it across to Carr who tapped it in to take a 3-0 lead.

Franklin Pierce had a chance to get the lead down to one with a penalty kick but hit the crossbar to keep the clean sheet intact for the Anna Fiore.

When the dust had settled, Fiore earned another clean sheet while making 11 saves this evening. Pace won the corner battle, earning 10 compared to FPU's mere two.
