MANCHESTER, N.H. – Despite outscoring the Penmen across three of the four quarters, the Pace University women's basketball team dropped a 77-74 contest at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.
The Setters nearly erased a 15-point halftime deficit, cutting the SNHU lead to just one with 25 seconds remaining. Pace's comeback came to its conclusion when a game-tying, three-point attempt clanked off the rim as time expired.
The Blue and Gold found itself in the big hole after SNHU put together a 33-17 effort in the second quarter. Pace led by a point after the first 10 minutes.
It was a balanced effort for the Blue and Gold which had four different players score in double figures while freshman
Morgan Ryan (Plainfield, N.J./Rutgers Prep) finished with nine points off the bench.
Junior
Katumina Mansaray (Ontario, Canada/Cardinal Newman Secondary School/Tilton School) led the Setters with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting while
Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and
Mackenzie Koch (Reston, Va./Herndon) each chipped in 14. Hackett also added a team-high five assists.
Freshman
Ciara Collins (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Eastern) neared her first career double-double courtesy of 12 points and a season-high nine rebounds.
Collectively, Pace finished 11-for-11 from the free-throw line and 11-of-24 from long range.
