PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The Pace University women's basketball team got back in the win column on Wednesday night at Goldstein Fitness Center with a 60-49 victory over visiting Saint Michael's College. The Setters were once again led by sophomore forward
Arianna Stockinger (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Putnam Valley) who netted 17 points and shooting 6-for-13 from the floor (2-for-2 from three).
Stockinger led a trio of Pace players who scored in double figures as freshman forward
Ciara Collins (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Eastern) and junior guard
Katumina Mansaray (Ontario, Canada/Cardinal Newman Secondary School/Tilton School) each scored 11. Sophomore center
Tower Lorde (Saint Michael, Barbados/The St. Michael School) had a near double-double with a game-best 11 rebounds and nine points.
Pace went into halftime down 33-25 but rallied back with a second half performance which had Pace outscore Saint Michael's College, 35-16.
Stockinger scored 10 of her points in the second half. Collins had nine.
In the third quarter, Pace shot 53.8 percent from the field (7-for-13).
With the win, the Setters advanced to 8-10 on the season, 5-6 in NE10 action. The Purple Knights fell to 1-14; 0-11 in the NE10.
Emma MacDonough led Saint Michael's College with 16 points, shooting 7-for-18 from the floor.
Up next, Pace will travel to New Haven for a Saturday afternoon matinee on Jan. 21. Tip time between the Setters and Chargers is slated for 1:30 p.m.
