NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Pace University women's basketball team lost 57-50 at New Haven on Saturday afternoon. Setter sophomore center
Tower Lorde (Saint Michael, Barbados/The St. Michael School) and junior guard
Shanice Sinclair (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) led the squad with 12 points each. Freshman forward
Ciara Collins (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Eastern) added 11 points.
Lorde shot 6-for-7 from the field while Sinclair went 6-for-12.
Pace (8-11, 5-7 NE10) led 12-11 in the first quarter but in the second, New Haven held the Setters to just four points. Despite outscoring the Chargers in the second half, in both quarters, Pace could not overcome the second period performance.
With just over a minute left to play, Pace cut the Setter lead to four, 54-50.
Sophomore forward
Arianna Stockinger (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Putnam Valley) was held to two points but led the Setters with five rebounds.
The Chargers (9-7, 6-6 NE10) were led by Camryn DeBose with 21 points. Aurora Deshaies scored 17.
Up next, Pace will host Le Moyne on Tuesday, Jan. 24 in an NE10 women's and men's doubleheader which starts at 5:30 p.m. at Goldstein Fitness Center.
