Tower Lorde Double-Double Not Enough As @PaceWbb Lose 64-55 At Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Setter sophomore center/forward Tower Lorde (Saint Michael, Barbados/The St. Michael School) had a 19-rebound effort en route to a double-double with 12 points at No. 10/18 Assumption. Her efforts, along with Shanice Sinclair's (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) 12 points, were not enough to overcome as nine-point first quarter deficit as the Pace University women's basketball team lost 64-55 at Andrew Laska Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Twelve of Lorde's rebounds were defensive. Sophomore forward Arianna Stockinger (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Putnam Valley) added nine points.

Assumption, the top-ranked team in the East Region according to the D2SIDA poll, took a 17-8 lead in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Setters (7-9, 4-6 NE10) rallied back to cut the Greyhounds lead to two, 23-21, after freshman Ciara Collins (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Eastern) made two free throws with 2:54 left in the half. At halftime, Assumption (14-2, 8-2) led by just six, 27-21.

Pace could not overcome Assumption's quick start as the Setters hung close in the third and fourth quarters. The Setters scored 15 points to the Greyound's 17 in the third and 19 to their 20 in the fourth.

For the Greyhounds, Ja'Lyn Armstrong scored 18 for the team-high. Marina Callahan added 12 with Teagan Curran with 10.

Up next, the Setters return home to host St. Thomas Aquinas at 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Goldstein Fitness Center.
