WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Pace University men's basketball team suffered its first loss since Dec. 6 at Assumption on Saturday, 76-58 at the Andrew Laska Gym. Senior Setter guard
Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush / FDU) led Pace with 18 points, scoring a season-best eight field goals (8-for-14) and adding a season-high three steals.
Grad forward
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) scored 12 points in the loss grad guard/forward
Adonis Williams (Spring Valley, N.Y./Brooks School / Adelphi) added 11. Williams shot 5-of-6 from the field.
With the loss, the No. 25 Setters record is 14-4 overall, 6-4 in the NE10. Assumption is 6-11, 2-8 in conference action.
Senior
Marc Dadika (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saint Mary's Rutherford / FDU) had seven rebounds to lead Pace.
Pace shot just 37.5 percent (24-for-64).
Assumption led 43-28 to close out the first half. The lead changed 11 times. Midway through the second half, a run by the Setters had the game at a five-point margin, 52-47, in favor of the Greyhounds. It was the closest the Blue and Gold would get in the half.
Next up, the Setters will host Saint Michael's College on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. at Goldstein Fitness Center.
