SAINT LEO, Fla. – Playing under the intense 90-degree heat of the Florida sun, the Pace University women's soccer team dropped its first game of the season, 1-0, to Saint Leo University in a battle of unbeatens.
Â
The Setters' record now stands at 1-1-2.
Â
Alex Collighan scored the only goal of the game in the 26
th minute of the first half. It was the freshman's first career score.
Â
The Pace offense could not get things going, as the Lions controlled the majority of the game, holding the Setters to just three shots, none of which were on goal. Saint Leo mustered a season-best 21 shots, including six shots-on-goal.
Â
Annabella Cole (Selden, N.Y./St. Anthony's) took over the goalkeeping duties for Pace after halftime and the sophomore kept the Blue and Gold within one goal by saving five shots, one shy of her career-high for saves in a half.
Â
The Setters compete in their final non-conference game on Wednesday night when the three-time defending CACC champions, Thomas Jefferson University (1-2), visit Pace Stadium. It will be the first-ever matchup between the two programs.Â
Â
The Rams are coming off a 1-0 loss to Pace's fellow NE10 compatriots Saint Rose on Saturday.
