GAFFNEY, S.C. – A day after earning their first win of the season, the Pace University field hockey team picked up a 3-1 triumph over Slippery Rock on Sunday. The Setters now hold a 2-1 record in the early going of 2022.
For a second straight game, Pace broke open a halftime tie. Sophomore
Krista Dietz (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) put the Setters ahead, 2-1, in the 32
nd minute off her second goal of the season.
Dietz also assisted on
Katelyn Fairhurst's (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) goal later in the third quarter that gave the Setters a 3-1 advantage. Dietz currently leads the Setters in total points this season off two goals and two assists.
Sophomore
Noelle Meij (Huizen, Netherlands / Laar & Berg Secondary School) registered Pace's first tally of the game in the fifth minute. Senior
Hannah Wyllie (Guildford, England/George Abbot School) recorded her 12
th career assist on the play.
Freshman goalkeeper
Alina Buerger (Königs Wusterhausen, Brandenburg, Germany/Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium) made five more saves in net to pick up her second consecutive victory. She has now allowed just one goal, while posting 11 stops over her last 120 minutes of action.
