MILTON, N.Y. – Competing for a third straight weekend to begin the 2022 season, the Pace University men's and women's cross country teams took the course at the New Paltz Invitational on Friday.
Men's Recap (8th Place)
Junior captain
CJ Defeo (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) once again directed the Setters' scoring with an 18
th-place finish. The Long Island native posted an 8K time of 33:18.7.
Sophomore
Daniel Pacheco (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) followed Defeo in 36
th place (36:24.1) while
Francesco DiBona (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) registered a 37
th-place finish in a time of 37:58.5.
Pace's final two scorers on Saturday were in the form of
Ceasar Lugo (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) and
Nicholas Becker (Lynbrook, N.Y./East Rockaway). Lugo recorded a time of 39:04.0 to cross in 42
nd while Becker tallied a mark of 45:18.2 to finish in 65
th.
Women's Recap (No Team Score)
Graduate student
Molly Darfler-Sweeney (Tannersville, N.Y./Hunter-Tannersville) put together her second straight top-10 finish to lead the women's squad. The Greene County native finished seventh with a 6K time of 28:37.9.
Sophomore captain
Meryl Mizell (Round Rock, Texas/Stony Point) rounded the course second for Pace with a 17
th-place effort in a time of 30:56.4.
Jordan Etheridge (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) and
Emma Voykhanskaya (Brooklyn, N.Y./Edward R. Murrow) served as the Blue and Gold's final two finishers. Etheridge placed 30
th with a mark of 35:46.0 while Voykhanskaya crossed in 47
th place (40:53.7).
