PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Wrapping up the non-conference portion of their schedule, the Pace University field hockey team earned a 2-1 overtime win over Bloomsburg on Friday afternoon. The dramatic victory pushes the Setters' record to 3-2 this season.
Freshman
Tavia Flecksteiner (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) served as the hero for Pace as her game-winner just 52 seconds into overtime clinched the Setters' first home win of 2022.
Pace also trailed 1-0 in the contest prior to a 49
th-minute goal from senior Eveline Bussmaker. Freshman
Sydney Sims (Worcester, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) orchestrated the equalizer to pick up her second career assist.
Defensively, it was another great outing from freshman goalkeeper
Alina Buerger (Königs Wusterhausen, Brandenburg, Germany/Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium) that helped the Setters stay in the game. The native of Germany followed up her school-record 18 saves from earlier this week with four much-needed stops on Tuesday, while allowing just the single goal.
