PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Playing for the first time inside the Goldstein Fitness Center this season, the Pace University dropped a dramatic five-setter (25-22, 21-25, 25-14, 22-25, 13-15) to Queens College on Tuesday night.
In a season of tight matches so far in 2022, the Setters were unable to close a 2-1 lead as they fell in five sets for the third time.
Sophomore
Georgette Cosentino (Scarsdale, N.Y./The Ursuline School) was once again the catalyst for Pace's offense. The Westchester County native achieved a new season-high with 44 assists while also tallying 13 digs and a pair of kills.
Cosentino has now recorded six double-doubles this season and currently ranks third in the NE10 in assists per set (8.28).
Junior
Madisen Lupica (Buchanon, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) also notched a double-double with career highs in both kills (19), digs (10) and service aces (2).
Cydney Gardner (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) and
Jada Screen (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett) joined in with double-digit kill efforts of their own, posting respective totals of 12 and 11.
Screen also performed well defensively with four blocks while senior
Jamie Bittiger (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) maneuvered a team-high 27 digs. She is now slotted fifth in the NE10 in digs per set (4.09).
