Pace Volleyball Splits Saturday Tri-Match

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Continuing a week of home matches, the Pace University volleyball team split a pair of contests inside the Goldstein Fitness Center on Saturday. Following a 3-0 loss to Mercy College, the Setters rattled off a four-set win over Goldey-Beacom College.

Junior Cydney Gardner (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) highlighted Pace's split with one of the best performances in recent memory. The Georgia native racked up 28 kills in just four sets against Goldey-Beacom while hitting a remarkable .426 in the process.

Gardner, whose previous career-best was 13 kills, made just five errors against the Lightning on 54 total attempts. She also chipped in four digs and a pair of blocks in the win.

Junior Madisen Lupica (Buchanon, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) joined Gardner in double figures with 14 kills against Goldey-Beacom while sophomore Georgette Cosentino (Scarsdale, N.Y./The Ursuline School) dished out a season-high 51 assists.

Cosentino added a team-high 12 digs as well as she secured her seventh double-double of the season. She is now slotted fourth in the NE10 in assists per set this season (8.56).

Collectively, the Setters tied a season-high with a team hitting percentage of .282 against the Lightning.

Lupica led the Blue and Gold in their first match of the day against Mercy. She finished the three sets with seven kills and 11 digs—both of which were team highs.
