Pace Women's Soccer Earns 2-2 Draw at Palm Beach Atlantic

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – For a third straight game, the Pace University women's soccer team erased a one-goal halftime deficit on the back of a dominant second half, this time scoring in the 88th minute to escape with a 2-2 draw against Palm Beach Atlantic University in the first road game of the season.

The Setters remain unbeaten with a 1-0-2 record this season.

The Sailfish thoroughly owned the first half, outshooting the Setters 13 to 1, including Alyana Gonel's 11th-minute tally to give PBA the lone score before the break despite a plethora of opportunities.

Pace freshman goalkeeper Anna Fiore (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) was clutch with a career-best five saves in her 45 minutes of play to keep the Blue & Gold in it heading into the intermission.

PBA doubled their lead in the 60th minute when Gonel assisted on a Michaela Boyd score. From there on, it was all Setters.

As has been the case thus far in 2022, Pace asserted its will in the second half, outshooting the Sailfish 12 to 4.

Senior Cecilia Puentes (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L Johnson) scored a goal for the second consecutive game, skillfully placing a penalty shot in the upper right corner outside of the goalie's reach in the 69th minute. It was the Garwood, N.J., native's 15thcareer goal.

The Sailfish kept the Setters at bay for over 19 minutes thereafter, at which point sophomore Allison Carr's (Plantsville, Conn./Southington) assist led to a timely Amber Bosser (Wingdale, N.Y./Dover) score with two minutes and ten seconds remaining, marking the third straight game in which Pace scored within the final 10 minutes.

Bosser's first career goal comes on the heels of her first career assist in the Setters' last game.

The Setters wrap up their trip to Florida on Sunday morning at Saint Leo University.
