Matt Anthony Promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Compliance

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. Pace University Director of Athletics, Mark Brown, has announced the establishment of a new position to ensure equitable representation for the University's diverse population of students with the creation of the Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The genesis of the position aligns with the recent national conversations surrounding the establishment of a Senior Minority Administrator designation; similar to what the industry did with the Senior Women's Administrator several decades ago.

Although this designation has not been officially established on a national level, the concept aligns perfectly with the Pace motto of Opportunitas and as such, Pace is choosing to exercise leadership in this regard.

To fill this important designation, Brown has elevated Matt Anthony to fill the role in addition to his leadership in Compliance.

"Matt's contributions to our community continues to grow year over year and this promotion is a recognition of his tremendous growth as an administrator and a leader on our campus. This new position is a reflection of Pace's overall strategy to be a conference-leader in the development of minority administrators," remarked Brown.

Anthony will continue to oversee Pace's athletic compliance as the Setters' veteran on NCAA Governance issues, NILs, recruitment and eligibility. Additionally, he continues be the staff mentor for the Setters' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

In his new capacity as the Athletic Department's Associate AD for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts, Anthony will serve as the point person on all diversity initiatives and coordinate with the University and the Northeast-10 Conference. He will help coordinate Pace University's annual Social Justice Week, the soon-to-come Mosiac Medicine program and the Junior 100 initiative through his lead role with the Athletic Diversity Committee.

The Middletown, N.Y., native has served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance since March 2015.  Anthony served as Pace Athletics' Marketing Coordinator from July 2013-March 2015. Anthony previously served as the Marketing & Compliance Graduate Assistant for Pace Athletics during the 2012-13 academic year.

Anthony was a four-year starter for Ithaca College men's soccer team from 2008-11. He was a defender and a captain in his senior year, while being a key part of the 2008 team that made it to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Anthony was also a two-time Empire 8 All-Conference selection in 2010 and 2011, as well as an NSCAA Third Team All-East Region selection in 2011.

Anthony graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor of science degree in sport management from Ithaca College in May 2012. In May 2014, he earned his master's degree in public administration with a concentration in government from Pace.

Anthony currently resides in White Plains, N.Y.
