SUN CITY, South Africa – Pace University football alumni Delaney Wallace ('17) captured first overall at the International Powerlifting Federation's (IPF) World Championships last week as the representative of the United States of America in the 183-pound weight class.
Wallace, who successfully completed 7-of-his-9 attempts, posted the highest total between his best lifts in the squat, bench press and deadlift (1,769 pounds) to win the gold medal and be crowned World Champion.
Wallace opened the competition with a 2-out-of-3 finish in the squat, with his best lift being 650 pounds to earn the silver medal in the event. He then went a perfect 3-out-of-3 in the bench press with his best attempt being 424 pounds, to earn another silver medal.
In the final event, Wallace successfully completed 2-of-his-3 attempts in the deadlift with his best performance being 694 pounds. Wallace's final efforts helped him secure first overall, beating out silver medalist Jurins Kengamu (Great Britain) by 33 pounds and bronze medalist Asein Enahoro (Hungary) by 50 pounds.

Wallace was a four-year member of the Pace University football from 2013-16. He racked up career totals of 1,651 rushing yards, 315 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns while appearing in 42 games for the Setters.
