COLCHESTER, Vt. – Angelina Porcello (Eastchester, NY/Eastchester) tied a school record with seven goals scored, and the Pace University women's lacrosse team (13-4, 10-3) closed out the regular season with a road victory at Saint Michael's College, 19-3, on Saturday.
Â
The Setters will now enter next week's NE10 Women's Lacrosse Championship as the fourth overall seed and will host fifth-seeded Assumption University on Wednesday night.Â
Â
Pace defeated the Greyhounds, 15-9, just this past Wednesday night.
Â
The Blue and Gold wasted no time taking the game away from the Purple Knights, amassing a 5-0 lead after one quarter, and shutting Saint Michael's out in the second half, 9-0.Â
Â
In total, the Setters outshot Saint Michael's 41-13 and caused 24 turnovers.
Â
Porcello's career-day saw her score twice in the first and fourth quarters, and three times in the third. She also dished out an assist for a Setter season-high of eight points.Â
Â
The Eastchester-sophomore has been scoring at an impressive clip. She has a team-best 12 hat tricks, including seven straight to close out the regular-season, two of which were for four goals, one of which was for five, and topping herself in the finale with seven.
Â
Her septuplet is tied for the most goals in a single game in Pace history.
Â
One of the players who shares that distinction with Porcello is senior
Kayla Conway (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh), who herself tied the record earlier this year. Against the Purple Knights the senior was her usual, reliably productive self, finishing with four points off three goals and one assist. Conway's 67 points leads the team.Â
Â
Jolie Urraro (Sayville, N.Y./Connetquot) also scored a hat trick and distributed two assists in the win. The junior has come on strong in the second half of the season, scoring 26 goals in the month of April.
Â
Junior
Delilah Doyle (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon Senior) was a strong presence in the defensive area, recording team highs of four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Â
Ashley Belfiore (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor) and
Sienna Masullo (Mount Sinai, N.Y./Mount Sinai School District) split the halves in net, with Belfiore picking up her third win of the year.
