DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Highlighted by one of their best offensive outputs of the season, the Pace University baseball team tallied a 15-7 win over Mercy College on Wednesday. The non-conference victory improves the Setters' record to 19-16 overall.
The Setters recorded multiple runs in four of the first five innings while jumping out to a 13-4 lead.
Graduate student Mitchell McCabe (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford/ Bridgton Academy) dominated at the dish with a 3-for-4, four-run, three-RBI effort. He hammered his 10th home run of the season in the seventh inning.
Freshmen Nicholas Montagna (Holmes, N.Y./Carmel) and Mason Baronian (River Vale, N.J./Pascack Valley) were also standout performers with three hits apiece.
Baronian was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two walks while Baronian posted a 3-for-6 day with three RBIs.
Junior Patrick Gleason (Valhalla, N.Y./Valhalla) served as the triumphant pitcher for Pace. The right-hander allowed just two earned runs across seven innings while improving his record to 5-3 this season.
Gleason continues to lead the Setters in ERA this season with a mark of 1.96 across 55.0 frames.
