PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In the first of consecutive home doubleheaders, the Pace University baseball team split a pair of contests against Southern Connecticut State on Saturday. The Setters are now 18-14 overall and 9-8 in the NE10 this season.
Game Two – Pace 2, SCSU 0
A terrific outing from freshman pitcher
Vincent Civitella (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) led the Setters in the finale. The left-hander yielded just two hits across six shutout innings with six strikeouts.
Another freshman
Grant Biederman (Huntington Station, N.Y./Walt Whitman) posted a scoreless seventh to close the door on SCSU.
Pace's offense consisted of an RBI single from
Andrew Primm (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) in the third and another one by
Nicholas Montagna (Holmes, N.Y./Carmel) in the sixth.

The main highlight of the opener was
Mitchell McCabe (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford/ Bridgton Academy) launching his ninth home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning.
Montagna also performed well in the first contest with two more hits. The rookie Setter is now batting a team-best .397 (5
th in the NE10) with 25 RBIs and six double this season.
