Pace Softball Halts Adelphi Win Streak in Doubleheader Split

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Facing one of their toughest NE10 foes of the season, the Pace University softball team split a Saturday doubleheader against Adelphi. The 1-1 afternoon puts the Setters' record at 24-11 overall, including 12-8 in conference games.

Game One – Pace 7, Adelphi 0
The Setters posted one of their best performances of the season while snapping a nine-game Adelphi winning streak. In addition to another gem from freshman Gisselle Garcia (Lemon Grove, Calif. /Mater Dei Catholic), Pace's top seven batters each recorded a hit while four players tallied RBIs.

Garcia's 12th straight win in the circle featured a complete-game two-hitter and 10 strikeouts. The California native, who also tallied a no-hitter earlier this week, currently boasts a 1.20 ERA this season with 128.0 innings pitched and 161 strikeouts.

After tallying runs in three of the first four innings, it was a three-RBI double from Zoie Iverson (Oregon City, Ore./Alliance Charter Academy/ Oregon City High School) that broke things open in the fifth.

Freshman Brianna Shea (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino ) knocked a pair of RBI singles in a 2-for-4 effort at the dish while Brittany Walkingstick (Peculiar, Mo./Desert Ridge / Mesa Community College) also went a team-best 2-for-4.

Game Two – Adelphi 4, Pace 0
It was Adelphi's turn to enjoy dominant pitching in the finale.

After getting a four-run cushion in the first inning, sophomore Lindsey Hibbs struck out 13 across seven shutout innings.

Iverson registered two of Pace's three singles in the contest.
