MANCHESTER, N.H. – Facing a fourth-straight nationally ranked opponent, the No. 12 Pace University women's lacrosse team logged a 19-14 win at 19th-ranked Saint Anselm on Saturday. The road triumph improves the Setters' record to 9-4 overall this season, 6-3 in the NE10.
It was a dominant, 9-2 start from the Blue and Gold that set the tone against the Hawks. The Setters followed with another 6-1 spurt in the second half to turn an 11-9 edge into a 17-10 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Senior
Kayla Conway (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) was once again steering the ship for Pace. The Long Island native found the back of the net six times, in addition to grabbing a game-high seven draw controls.
Conway is currently ranked in the top-five of the NE10 this season in points, goals and draw controls.
Angelina Porcello (Eastchester, NY/Eastchester) and
Jaimie Bell (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) joined in with hat tricks of their own on Saturday, while
Sydney Juvelier (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach),
Margaret Flocco (Patterson, NY/Carmel) and
Jolie Urraro (Sayville, N.Y./Connetquot) each recorded two goals apiece.
The Setters used three goalkeepers in the contest with
Kate Laico (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) earning the win following a six-save first half.
