Pace Baseball Edges Caldwell, 7-5

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In one of their final non-conference games of the season, the Pace University baseball team posted a 7-5 win over Caldwell on Tuesday. The victory improves the Setters' record to 15-11 overall.

Freshman Nicholas Montagna (Holmes, N.Y./Carmel) knocked in more than half of Pace's runs with a four-RBI afternoon. The rookie's double in the third inning that scored Mitchell McCabe (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford/ Bridgton Academy) and Johnny Guarantano (Nottingham, Md./RJ Reynolds High School) put the Setters up 4-3—a lead that they would never relinquish.

Senior Nate Carminucci (Somers, N.Y./North Salem High School) led the Blue and Gold with two hits in the game while McCabe went 1-for-1 with three walks and a run scored.

A pair of freshman pitchers earned first-career statistics in the win. Vincent Civitella (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) picked up his first collegiate victory while Grant Biederman (Huntington Station, N.Y./Walt Whitman) earned career save No. 1.
