PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Following standout performances on the diamond,
Luke Jacobi (Edison, N.J./JP Stevens) of the Pace University baseball team and
Gisselle Garcia (Lemon Grove, Calif. /Mater Dei Catholic) of the Setters' softball squad have been named the Setters of the Week, presented by NewYork-Presbyterian, for the week ending April 10, 2022.
Jacobi was red hot during a 3-2 stretch for the Setters last week. The New Jersey native had a hit in every game en route to batting .591 with nine RBIs and nine runs scored. Jacobi capped off the week with a 6-for-6 performance in Pace's 17-8 win over AIC on Sunday. He also picked up four stolen bases during the stretch, while hitting a double in each of the Setters' last four contests.
In a season of sensational outings, Garcia may have registered her best one yet on Sunday. The California native racked up 17 strikeouts in a complete-game win over AIC. She allowed just one run on two hits en route to her fifth straight victory. Garcia also posted five scoreless innings in a run-rule win at Dominican earlier in the week. She currently owns a 1.59 ERA with 92 strikeouts in 79 innings pitched this season.
