PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University women's lacrosse team posted its second consecutive resounding victory to start the 2022 season with an 18-6 home win over Molloy College on Saturday.
The Setters have outscored their opponents 34-11 thus far this season.
Pace put five goals in the back of the net in the opening quarter, including two from Aleya Corretjer (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) and one from Kayla Conway (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh). The two seniors both finished the afternoon tied with a team-high four goals. Conway also notched an assist to lead the squad with five points.
Senior Jaimie Bell (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West), junior Sydney Juvelier (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach), and freshman Nikki Motes all scored a pair of goals.Â
Conway (7), Juvelier (6), and Corretjer (5) all rank within the top-16 goal scorers in the NE10, with Conway leading the pack in fifth place. The Blue and Gold's 34 scores are the second-most goals of any team in the conference.
Sophomore Ashley Belfiore (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor) and freshman Kate Laico (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) once again split the halves in net, with Belfiore awarded the win for her two-save performance in the first half of action. The Manorville-native conceded just one goal in 30 minutes of action.
The Pace goalkeepers and defense have conceded the fourth-lowest number of goals in the NE10, with the three teams ahead of the Setters all having played one game less.
