PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Playing their second non-conference doubleheader in as many days, the Pace University softball team defeated Queens College twice on Thursday afternoon. The Setters' second straight sweep puts their record at 9-7 this season.
Game One – Pace 1, Queens 0
For the second straight day, freshman
Gisselle Garcia (Lemon Grove, Calif. /Mater Dei Catholic) sparked the Blue and Gold. The right-hander tossed a one-hit shutout to lead the Setters to their second shutout of the year.Â

Garcia tossed six no-hit innings before allowing a lead-off single in the final frame. All in all, she finished with nine strikeouts, including back-to-back punch outs to end the game.

Garcia lowered her ERA to just 1.75 this season across 60 frames of work. She is now averaging exactly one strikeout per inning pitched.Â

Pace's lone run of the game came in the fifth inning. Senior
NancyAnn Revilla (Staten Island, N.Y./Port Richmond) hammered a sac fly that scored freshman
Brianna Shea (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino ). Shea led off the inning with her first career triple.Â

Game Two – Pace 6, Queens 5
The bats came alive for the Blue and Gold in the finale. The Setters' six runs in the first two innings proved to be just enough to earn the sweep.Â

Shea was once again at the forefront of Pace's attack. The California native went 2-for-3 in Game Two with three RBIs and a run scored.Â

Sophomore Alexandra Tejada joined in with a 3-for-3 effort of her own with two RBIs and a run scored.

In the circle, sophomore
Anna Acevedo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) earned her second win of the season. The Brooklyn native pitched well through six before running into slight trouble in the seventh.Â

After Queens cut the deficit to 6-5 following a two-out, two-run home run, graduate pitcher
Mackenzie Garrick (South River, N.J./South River) got the final out to earn her second career save.Â
