MANCHESTER, N.H. – Wrapping up a four-game weekend in New Hampshire, the Pace University softball team (5-7, 0-4 NE10) was defeated twice at Saint Anselm College on Sunday.
Game One – Saint Anselm 8, Pace 5
After the Setters tallied a pair of runs to tie the game at 5-5 in the top of the seventh, it was a three-run, walk-off home run that clinched the win for Saint Anselm.
Freshman
Alexa Borino (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) tallied an RBI triple in the seventh to cut the lead to 5-4 before scoring the game-tying run on a wild pitch. Borino also singled in a run in the fifth.
Brittany Walkingstick (Peculiar, Mo./Desert Ridge / Mesa Community College) and
Zoie Iverson (Oregon City, Ore./Alliance Charter Academy/ Oregon City High School) were also strong performers in the opener. Walkingstick hammered her second home run of the season in the fourth, while Iverson went 2-for-4 at the dish.
Game Two – Saint Anselm 8, Pace 7
The Setters couldn't hold on to a 6-2 lead in the finale as the Hawks plated six runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take an 8-6 edge.
A
Gwen Pederson (Sylmar, Calif./Granada Hills Charter) RBI single in the seventh cut the lead to 8-7 before Pace ultimately left the bases loaded to close out the game.
Six different Setters recorded an RBI in the second contest, while Borino, Iverson,
Brianna Shea (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino ), and
Jenny Gordon (Colonia, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) all tallied a pair of hits.

The Setters will begin an eight-game home stand on Wednesday against Mercy College.
