WEST HAVEN, Conn. – In the final game of a four-game weekend series, the Pace University baseball team posted a 15-6 win over New Haven on Sunday afternoon. The Setters' third straight victory pushes their record to 10-7 this season, 3-1 in the NE10.
Pace's onslaught featured the most hits (22) in a game since 2018. The Blue and Gold did most of their damage in two innings, plating five in the second and six in the sixth.
Four Setters finished with three hits in the game, while seven different players registered at least one RBI.
Sophomore
Thomas Keefe (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) led the way with a 3-for-5, four-RBI performance while
Mitchell McCabe (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford/ Bridgton Academy) went 2-for-2 with three walks and three runs scored.
Matt Almonte (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle),
Nicholas Montagna (Holmes, N.Y./Carmel) and
Mason Baronian (River Vale, N.J./Pascack Valley) joined Keefe with three knocks apiece, while combining for five runs scored and two RBIs.
The Setters totaled five doubles in the game, while McCabe hammered his third career home run in the sixth inning.
On the mound, the Setters used five different pitchers. Pace's starter,
Anthony Apollaro (Flower Mound, Texas/June Shelton), earned his second win of the season after allowing just one earned run in five innings.
