PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Coming off their first loss of the season, the No. 15 Pace University women's lacrosse team wasted no time against Southern Connecticut State on Wednesday night, outscoring the Owls 9-1 in the opening quarter, including two within the first minute of the game, en route to a 17-6 home win.
The Setters improved their record to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in the conference.
Five Setters recorded multiple goals, four of whom recorded a hat trick, one of which, junior
Sydney Juvelier (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach), scored four times for the second consecutive game.
Sophomore
Angelina Porcello (Eastchester, NY/Eastchester), junior
Jolie Urraro (Sayville, N.Y./Connetquot), and senior
Aleya Corretjer (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) each put three goals in the back of the net, while senior
Kayla Conway (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) scored twice.
Corretjer continues to excel for the Blue and Gold, also finishing with team-highs of four assists and seven points, to now rank second in the NE10 in assists (16) and points (35), and sixth in goals (19).
Overall, Juvelier's 18 goals and Conway's 17 rank seventh and eighth respectively, giving Pace three top-ten conference goal-scorers.
Defensively, the Setters caused 16 turnovers, led by senior
Allison Brady's (East Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) team-high three.
Freshman
Kate Laico (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) was awarded her third win of the season with a .600 save-percentage and just two goals conceded in one half of action against the Owls.
Laico, along with Porcello, also led the team in ground balls recovered with three.
