Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 15 Women's Lacrosse Nipped at No. 7 East Stroudsburg, 12-11

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – In a battle of unbeatens, the 15th-ranked Pace women's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 7 East Stroudsburg University, 12-11, in come-from-behind fashion. The non-conference loss drops the Setters' record to 4-1 (1-0 NE10).

Senior Aleya Corretjer (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) was once again an unstoppable, all-purpose force on the pitch. The Thiells-native finished the afternoon with team-highs of four goals, two assists, and six points, three categories in which she is also the team leader on the season, now with 16 goals, 12 assists, and 28 points.

Junior Sydney Juvelier (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) also scored four times to bring her to 14 overall, while three other Setters recorded one goal.

The Warriors struck first, three minutes into the game, but Pace was quick to respond, taking the lead less than five minutes later after two Corretjer goals.

The Blue and Gold would not relinquish that lead until the fourth quarter, leading by as many as three on four occasions: 6-3, 7-4, 10-7, and 11-8.

However, the fourth period was when the wheels came off the bus as pursuant to a Juvelier goal 42 seconds into the last quarter which gave the Setters the 11-8 lead, the Warriors scored four times unanswered.

Gianna LeDuc tied the game with 8:05 to play and scored the game-winner with 1:25 left.

A final Pace rally resulted in a turnover ending the contest and handing the Setters their very first loss of the season.

Freshman Kate Laico (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) played a full 60 in net for the first time in her young career, and despite being accorded the loss, the East Meadow-New Yorker saved a career-high 11 shots and conceded just 12 goals against an undefeated offense that came in averaging 18.75 per-game.

The game was Pace's last remaining non-conference affair, and they will now play 12 straight Northeast-10 Conference games.
